Walter Wieners

During a career spanning over 20 years, Mr. Wieners has established himself as an accomplished international healthcare consulting executive who has held senior level positions with leading US information consulting and technology firms. His US work has been complemented by extensive global experience and has covered a cross-section of the healthcare industry, addressing the needs of pharmaceutical companies, insurers, integrated delivery networks, governmental organizations, system vendors and investment firms.

Recently he completed a 2-year assignment as Director, Healthcare Consulting, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Oracle Nederlands, B.V. and served on the National Advisory Council, The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. His chapter on lessons learned implementing national EHR programs, Global Perspectives,B published by Springer, Inc. in April 2006 within bAspects of the Electronic Health Record, Second Edition,b and he continues to lecture at the School of Medicine where the book was produced.

Walter Wienersb expertise lies in international healthcare consulting practice leadership, product and business strategy development and support for complex business development opportunities. His career is underscored by success in developing strategic business plans, market entry approaches, managing complex multi-year projects and fostering long-term client relationships at senior executive levels. Mr. Wieners has substantial domain expertise in payer and provider markets, a strong global network and a reputation for value driven accomplishments.

An acknowledged thought leader, Mr. Wieners authored the successful John Wiley & Sons book, bGlobal Health Care Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to the Regions, Trends, and Opportunities Shaping the International Health Arena,b and has published substantially in Healthcare Informatics. A Fellow in the Health Information Management Systems Society, he serves as Co-Chair, Global Enterprise (EHR) Task Force. He has a strong interest in healthcare informatics in developing countries.

Mr. Wieners received a masterbs degree from The University of Chicago and a bachelorbs degree from The Johns Hopkins University.
